Dilip Vengsarkar is the Indian batsman to score the highest 3 Test century in Lord’s. Dilip Vengsarkar has been the first non -English and Indian batsman to score three consecutive centuries on the grounds of Lord’s maize. Even great batsmen like Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli could not achieve this feat for India. Dilip Vengsarkar played innings of 0 and 103 in the year 1979 on the grounds of Lord’s, 2 and 157 in 1982 and 126 and 33 runs in 1986.

Sachin-Kohli-Gavaskar is far behind

Dilip Vengsarkar scored 508 runs at an average of 72.57 while playing four Tests on the grounds of Lord’s ground. Dileep scored at Lord’s in 1990 at Lord’s ground, but could not score a century. In the first innings, he scored 52 runs and 35 runs in the second innings. For India, Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli also could never score a single century on the grounds of Lord’s. His captaincy was snatched after a West Indies tour

Between 1985 and 1987, Dilip Vengsarkar scored tremendous runs for Team India. Dilip Vengsarkar scored centuries against Pakistan, Australia, England, West Indies and Sri Lanka during this period. After the 1987 World Cup, Dilip Vengsarkar was removed and elected to captaincy. He started his captaincy with two centuries but his captaincy kept getting caught in difficulties. After the West Indies tour in 1989, his captaincy was taken away.

Dilip Vengsarkar captained India in 10 Tests. Vengsarkar played his last international match against Australia in 1992 in Perth. In which he could not even cross the 10 -run mark in both innings. Vengsarkar represented the Indian team in 116 Tests and 129 ODIs. Vengsarkar scored 6868 runs in 116 Test matches at an average of 42.13, including 17 centuries and 35 half -centuries. Vengsarkar scored 3508 runs in 129 ODIs at an average of 34.73. He has a century in ODIs. Vengsarkar was born on 6 April 1956 in Rajapur, Maharashtra. He has been the legendary batsman of the Indian team in the end of the 70th and early 80s.
