ICC Rankings: South Africa’s team defeated Australia by 5 wickets in the World Test Championship final. With the historic victory, the African team ended the drought of the ICC Trophy that has been going on for 27 years. Even though the Africa team won in the title battle, Australia is still sitting on the number-1 chair in terms of ranking. However, the Africa team has also got some benefit, but it was not enough to beat Australia.

A notch up Africa

Africa performed strongly in the World Test Championship 2024-25. After winning the title against Australia on 14 June, South Africa has benefited a rank in ICC rankings. The team defeated England, England from second place now ranks third with 113 rating points. At the same time, Team India is currently at number four in the Test rankings. If the Indian team manages to win in the Test series against England, then a big benefit can be seen.

Australia at number-1

Australia has trampled teams one after the other in the World Test Championship. This team also distanced India from the trophy in the Border Gavaskar Trophy and won the series 3–1. The result of which has been seen after the final. The Kangaroo team is at number one with 123 points. Despite the final defeat in the final, Australia remains at number-1 in the ICC Test rankings.

5 wicket defeat

South Africa won the toss in the final match and decided to bowl first. Australia’s team managed to score 212 runs in the first innings. In response, Africa scored 138 runs, in the second innings the Kangaroo team gave 207 runs. Aden Marakala was the hero of the victory for Africa and snatched the trophy from Australia thanks to a brilliant century innings.
