Bumrah, Siraj, Arshadeep hit unbeaten 122 runs
Actually, the player we are referring to here is Shardul Thakur. The brilliant player, called ‘Lord’ Shardul, scored an unbeaten 122 runs in an intra-skava match while playing for India A. Along with this, he introduced a strong claim to join the playing XI for the first Test against England. His innings is important because he scored this run in front of deadly pace attacks like Jaspreet Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj, famous Krishna and Arshdeep Singh. Shardul was unbeaten at the crease till the stumps on the second day. He started batting on the third day and completed his century.
The second day shone with the ball
Earlier, on the second day of the intra-voice match, Shardul shone bowling for Bharat A. While bowling well, he troubled batsmen like KL Rahul, Shubman Gill and Karun Nair. Shardul’s performance in this match is pointing towards joining the first Test playing-11 against England. It is clear from Shardul’s game that he has returned with full preparation in the Indian Test team. If he gets a chance in playing-11 against England, then he is going to become a big problem for the team of Ben Stokes.
Border Gavaskar Trophy team did not find space
Shardul was not selected in the team for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, while Nitish Kumar Reddy played all the five Test matches. Nitish also scored a century in the Melbourne Test. However, his performance with the ball was not good. It is now a headache in front of the management that who should be selected against Nitish Kumar Reddy or Shardul, England. Shardul has the skill of taking wickets in adverse circumstances and is considered a great player. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see whether they get a chance in the playing XI for the headingley test.
Return to Test team after about one and a half years
Shardul was included in the Indian Test team for the series against England on the basis of a great domestic season for Mumbai. He was the best performing player in the Ranji Trophy in the domestic season. The all -rounder played the last Test for India in December 2023 against South Africa in Centurion. Looking at his Test career, he has played 11 matches so far, in which he has scored 331 runs and has taken 31 wickets.
