Despite a poor performance against South Africa in the World Test Championship (WTC) final, Australian head coach Andrew McDonald has supported batsman Marnas Labushen. Labushen was sent as an opener in this important match played at Lord’s, but he was able to play only 17 and 22 runs innings.
Former England captain Kevin Pietersen criticized his first innings for Labushen’s batting, especially for his defensive attitude. However, coach McDonald believes that the team just has to find their right place so that they can return to their best form again. He said that he is still an important part of the future of the team. Any batsman with an average of 46 is important in Test cricket, especially at that age. He said that we have some senior players who are at the last stop of their career and some young players are also coming in the team. In such a situation, those who have 60 Test experience are extremely valuable.

McDonald also admitted that Labushen would be disappointed with his performance and he could not get big scores. He scored 70 runs in MCG twice. If he had been two centuries, it would have been something else. We are confident that he will return, and that is why we choose them continuously.

Coach McDonald also admitted that the Australian team is not perfect, and this time he could not find a way to win. He said that we are not a perfect team and this has been the same throughout the journey. We have won in different ways, but this time that method could not be found.
