The first match of the five -match Test series between India and England is to be played from Leeds to Headingley Cricket Ground from 20 June (Friday). Shubman Gill says, ‘I met both of them (Rohit-Kohli) during the IPL. He told me about his experiences in England and the challenges coming here. Shubman Gill said, ‘As captain you do not get much opportunities to come to England. You probably get such an opportunity twice. If you are the best player of your generation, then it can happen three times. But IPL comes every year, there is a chance to play in it every time. Winning Test series in England, New Zealand, South Africa and Australia is a bigger thing.

Shubman Gill, referring to the vice-captain Rishabh Pant, said, ‘I have played a lot of cricket with Rishabh. Our mindset and thinking is of one kind. We want to create an atmosphere in which every player feels safe and full of confidence. We believe that players are able to give their best only when they are given confidence and support.

Playing-11 did not disclose much

When Shubman Gill was asked if the style of his captaincy would be impressed by England’s ‘Bazball’ style, he smiled and said, “You will have to wait till August what our style will be.” Shubman Gill did not disclose much about the playing-11 of the first Test. Shubman only told that he himself will bat at number 4.

Shubman Gill said, ‘If you want to win a Test match, then you will have to take 20 wickets, no matter how many runs you score. We are focusing on how to take 20 wickets. Maybe we get down with only 6 expert batsmen in a few matches, a bowling all -rounder and 3 to 4 fast bowlers.
