Glenn Maxwell Retire: Between IPL 2025, Punjab Kings and Australian veteran all -rounder Glenn Maxwell have retired from ODI cricket. He played an important role in Australia’s victory in two ODIs. Maxwell was a member of the Kangaroo team that won this tournament in 2015 and 2023. This veteran has said that he will be available for T20 International matches and has not said goodbye to the franchise T20 career.
Made debut in 2012
Maxwell scored 3990 runs in 149 matches for Australia. On 25 August 2012, he made his ODI debut in Sharjah. He scored a memorable double century against Afghanistan during the ODI World Cup 2023. It is considered one of the top innings of World Cup history. He spoke about his retirement on ‘The Final Word’ podcast with Adam Colins. Maxwell said that now it seems a bit strange to call himself a former player. ‘
2027 will not play in World Cup
Maxwell said, “I was very proud to play a few matches for Australia. The part of the team winning the series against Pakistan in UAE is a matter of pride. It was my first series. It was a very special moment. I have gone through some ups and downs. Some World Cups have been played and some have been part of great teams.” He would not be able to play in the 2027 ODI Cup.

Maxwell’s ODI career
Maxwell played 149 ODIs of Australia. During this, 3990 runs at an average of 33.81. His strike rate was 126.70. Maxwell’s bat scored 4 centuries and 23 half -centuries. He hit 382 fours and 155 sixes. He also took 77 wickets in ODI cricket. Maxwell played his last match against India on 4 March 2025 in Dubai. The Kangaroo team lost in that semi -final match of the Champions Trophy. India later won the tournament by defeating New Zealand.

Failed in IPL 2025
Maxwell is a member of Punjab Kings in the IPL. He was out in the middle of the current season due to injury. He was bought by the franchise for Rs 3.2 crore, but he could not perform better than the ball and bat. Maxwell played 7 matches this season and scored 48 runs at an average of just 8. His strike rate was 97.96. He was able to take only 4 wickets in bowling. Talking overall, Maxwell has scored 2819 runs in 141 IPL matches at an average of 23.89 and a strike rate of 155.15. He has 41 wickets in his name.
