South African opener Aiden Markram has scored history by scoring a brilliant century against Australia in the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 being played at Lord’s. On the third day of the match, Markram completed this hundred and remained unbeaten with captain Temba Bavuma (65*). Markram has scored 102 runs till stumps, including 11 fours. Along with this century, he also made a big record, which no South African batsman has done till now.

Actually, ICC has become the first South African batsman to score a death century in the final. Earlier, no South African batsman ICC could do amazing to score a century in the final. Apart from this, Marakram has become the third batsman in the world to score a century in the history of the WTC final. Prior to him, Steve Smith (121) and Travis Head (121) scored centuries against India in the WTC final 2023.

Name related to Bradman’s club

Along with this century, the name of Markram has been connected to the club of great batsman Don Bradman. Marakram has become the sixth visiting batsman to score a Test century at Lord’s. Bradman was the first to score a century on this ground, who scored an unbeaten 102 in a Test against England in 1938. Roy Fredrix, Gordon Greenies, Ajit Agarkar and Michael Clarke are also part of this list.

Smith’s record of this record

Marakram also equaled a record of compatriot Grame Smith. In fact, he has become the second South African batsman to score more than one century in the fourth innings against Australia in Test cricket for South Africa. Smith did this twice, while Marakram has also played this amazing innings twice.
