Nicholas Poran Retirement: A big news is coming out from West Indies cricket. At the age of just 29, the star batter and famous Nicholas Puran for his stormy batting has called the Alvida of International Cricket. He has once been the captain of the West Indies ODI and T20 team.
By deciding the reservation at such a young age, he has shocked the fans. Puran scored 1983 runs in 61 ODIs in his career and 2275 runs in 106 T20 matches. Recently, he had taken himself out of selection for the T20 series against England and he was not even part of the ODI team since the 2023 ODI World Cup qualifiers.
But his decision is shocking, because when he played his 100th T20 International match in November 2024, he said that he can play 100 and T20 International matches.
Nicholas Puran announced his review on his social media on Monday. He wrote- After much thinking and introspection, I have decided to retire from international cricket. This game, which we all love, have given me a lot and will continue to give me further. Happiness, purpose, memorable moments and a chance to represent the West Indies people …
Wearing a maroon jerseys, standing for the national anthem and taking everything on the field every time … It is very difficult to describe these moments in words. It has been an honor for me to be the captain of the team, which I will always cherish with heart.
Nicholas Puran further wrote- Thank the fans wholeheartedly, loved you unconditionally. You supported me in difficult times and celebrated with full enthusiasm in good moments. Thanks of family, friends and players playing with you … You supported me at every step in this journey. Your trust and support always gave me strength. Even though my interchal cricket career is ending now, but my love for West Indies cricket will never end. I wish only success and strength for the team and the entire Aria.
Nikolas Puran made his debut in 2016 …
Nicholas Puran made his debut for the West Indies against Pakistan in 2016. Three years later, he played his first ODI against England. In 2022, he was made the captain of the West Indies ODI and T20 team, but the same year he gave up the captaincy after the team’s poor performance in the T20 World Cup in Australia. He played the last match for the West Indies in December 2024 in the domestic T20 series played against Bangladesh in Kingstown.
But he was the best performance in 2024 when he hit the most sixes (170) in a calendar year and then scored 524 runs in IPL 2025 with five half -centuries at a strike rate of 196.25. However, early next year, he was expected to play an important role in the West Indies’ schemes for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
What will Nikolas Puran do now
Nicholas Puran now plays continuously in franchise cricket and in this summer he can be seen in tournaments like MLC (USA) and The Hundred (England). Apart from this, he also plays continuously in CPL (Caribbean Premier League), IPL (Indian Premier League) and ILT20 (UAE).
In T20 International, Puran is the highest player of West Indies and scoring the most runs. He scored 2275 runs in 106 T20 matches, where his average was 26.14 and the strike rate was 136.39. In the ODI, he scored 1983 runs in 61 matches, his average was 39.66 and the strike rate was 99.15.
