Indian leg-spinner Piyush Chawla has announced retirement from all formats of cricket. Piyush Chawla announced his reality on social media on 6 June (Friday). Chawla was part of the Indian team in the 2007 T20 World Cup and ODI World Cup 2011. Both of them were won by the Indian team under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

36 -year -old Piyush Chawla wrote on Instagram, ‘I am finishing this chapter with gratitude. I am retiring from all formats of cricket. Thank you all for always supporting in this beautiful journey. Piyush Chawla also shared a long post of this.
Piyush Chawla wrote in his post, ‘After spending more than two decades on the field, now the time has come to say goodbye to this beautiful game. From representing India to becoming a part of the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup winning team, every moment of this amazing journey has been a blessing for me. These memories will always remain in my heart.
Piyush Chawla further wrote, ‘I heartily thank all the IPL franchisees who expressed confidence in me- Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. The Indian Premier League has been a very special chapter of my career and I have appreciated every moment while playing in it. I am my coaches- K.K. I specially thank Gautam and the late Pankaj Saraswat, who played an important role in improving and grooming me as cricketers.
Piyush Chawla writes, ‘My family, which was always the strongest pillar of my strength. Your unwavering, my foundation remained in the ups and downs of my career. Especially my late father, whose faith showed me this path. Without them, this journey could never be possible. I also thank BCCI, UPCA (Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association) and GCA (Gujarat Cricket Association), who gave me a platform and opportunities to enhance myself as cricketers.
Piyush Chawla wrote emotional, ‘Today is a very emotional day for me because I officially announce retiring from all formats of international and domestic cricket. Although I will not step on the pitch anymore, but cricket will always be alive within me. I am excited to move towards a new journey, I will take the soul and learning of this beautiful game.

Piyush Chawla was last seen playing for India in December 2012. Right -arm spinner Piyush played three Tests, 25 ODIs and 7 T20 matches for India. He has seven wickets in Tests, 32 in ODI International and 4 wickets in T20 International. Piyush Chawla played 192 matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL), which has 192 wickets at an average of 26.60 in his name.
Piyush Chawla was part of Mumbai Indians (Mi) in IPL 2024. However, there were unsold in the auction for IPL 2025. Piyush Chawla also represented Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL. In IPL 2025, Chawla was seen in the commentary box.
