Nair’s journey of Test cricket in Team India has been very volatile. His popularity decreased in a few months only after playing a brilliant innings of 303 runs against England in 2016. His performance in the 2017 Test series against Australia was disappointing, where he scored just 53 runs in 3 Tests. After this, during the England tour of 2018, he sat down and did not get a chance.

But Nair never gave up. He continued to play domestic cricket. Karun performed 2023 brilliantly in county cricket, while then showed impressive performance in the domestic season of 2024-25, including 863 Ranji Trophy runs. Due to all these demonstrations, he was once again notices.
