The five -match Test series between India and England starts from June 20. The first match of the Test series is to be held at the Handingley Cricket Ground in Leeds, which has only 4 days left for starting. There has been a big change before the series between India and England. This time the Test series will be played under the name of ‘Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy’. The trophy has been named after former India captain Sachin Tendulkar and England’s most successful bowler James Anderson.
When will the trophy be unveiled?
Let me tell you that in honor of former Indian captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, it was earlier called ‘Pataudi Trophy’, the hosts of this trophy were decided by the host England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). The name has been changed, but the new trophy has not been unveiled yet. The ‘Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy’ was to be unveiled on 14 June during the final of the World Test Championship (2023–25) of the World Test Championship (2023–25).
Now the reason for the delay in the unveiling of the trophy has been revealed. It is being said that it has been delayed due to the recent aircraft accident in Ahmedabad. An official of the Cricket Control Board of India (BCCI) told PTI, “The recent accident in Ahmedabad has delayed the unveiling of the trophy. It has not been canceled. It is expected that the trophy will be unveiled before the series starts.
Please tell that British citizens also died in the plane crash held in Ahmedabad. This Air India aircraft was going to London and crashed only a few minutes after flying. According to Air India, the passengers aboard the aircraft included 169 Indians, 53 British citizens, 1 Canadian and 7 Portuguese citizens. Also, 12 members of crew members were also on the plane.
Sachin Tendulkar made this request
A new controversy arose over the name of the Indo-England Test series. The fans were angry, the Pataudi family himself looked unhappy. Seeing the controversy growing, Sachin Tendulkar has come forward in the whole matter. Master Blaster has requested BCCI and ECB to find a way to maintain Pataudi’s legacy in the series. According to sources, apart from Sachin Tendulkar, ICC chairman Jai Shah also wants that the name of this late captain should be associated with this series keeping in mind Pataudi’s contribution to Indian cricket. This may also be the reason for the unveiling of the trophy.
